Acne has got to be one of the worst nemesis for us and that could not be more true for Singapore’s very own comedian, Mark Lee.
From age 15, Mark Lee has battled with severe acne but when the nightmare seemed to be over, the actor found that he was left with deep acne scars that have followed him ever since.
Being in the limelight, Mark Lee’s pockmarks have become synonymous to his on-screen identity, causing the actor to be increasingly self-conscious.
Example of severe acne
However, all that changed when Mark Lee turned to The Clifford Clinic for its Acne Scar Program. Since his journey with Dr Gerard Ee from The Clifford Clinic, Mark Lee’s skin has drastically improved and the veteran actor has not looked back ever since.
“After having struggled for many years with acne scars, I’m overjoyed to have discovered The Clifford Clinics’ Acne Scar Program,” he said. “It has really improved my skin and given me more confidence.”
Since the beginning of his treatment with The Clifford Clinic, Mark Lee has undergone eight Infini ACP (conducted once every three months) and two Edge Fractional CO2 sessions, and continues to undergo regular treatment at the centre.
What is Acne Scar and how they are derived
Acne scars come about when our skin experiences a deep trauma. Ironically, acne scars are the result of our body’s natural means to recover and heal.
With acne, the skin pores become clogged with oil and dead skin cells which encourages the growth of bacteria.
As a result, the clogged pore becomes an acne lesion commonly known as whiteheads or blackheads.
Acne scars are formed when the lesion ruptures into the deeper layer of the skin. When this happens, our skin rushes to repair with the formation of new collagen fibres.
However the acne scar formed highly depends on the amount of collagen produced. With an over production of collagen, patients will find themselves with raise acne scars while an under production of collagen results in pitted scars also known as pockmarks.
State of the Art Acne treatment
Engineered to help patients suffering from pockmarks and enlarged pores, the aesthetics doctors at The Clifford Clinic have strategically designed an Acne Scar Program to alleviate the stain of acne scarring.
Adopting a state of the art acne treatment program, The Clifford Clinic uses a 3-prong approach to help patients achieve a smoother and tauter complexion.
Patients first undergo Infini Advanced Clinical Protocol (ACP), followed by Edge Fractional CO2, and lastly, with Clifford Stem Cell Serum.
Through the series of meticulous acne treatment, it encourages the stimulation the production of collagen fibres in the body which ultimately evens the skin complexion, making it look firmer and smoother.
What is The Clifford Clinic’s 3-prong Acne Scar Treatment all about?
Step 1 – INFINI ACP
The Clifford Clinic’s Acne Scar treatment begins with a 75-minute Infini ACP treatment. Prior to the treatment, a numbing cream will first be applied and left on the skin for 60 minutes before local anesthesia is administered.
After the numbing process, the laser treatment commences with laser shots delivered to the regions of treatment, using different needles depths with different energy levels.
Unlike other technologies, The Infini ACP stands out from other laser treatments as it has the capacity to stimulate collagen growth up to 3.5mm below the skin’s surface – deeper than other laser technologies on the market, delivering more efficient and effective results.
Step 2 – Edge Fractional CO2
Next up, Edge Fractional CO2. Superior to conventional Fractional CO2 lasers, Edge Fractional CO2 uses 30W lasers which produces better results with reduced downtime.
During the Edge Fractional CO2 treatment, the doctors at The Clifford Clinic deliver laser shots throughout the entire face, using different intensities over different areas of the face, depending on the severity of the scar as well as the thickness of the skin.
After each Edge Fractional CO2 treatment, patients usually sport a slightly redden face that feels warm to the touch. However, the effects of Edge Fractional CO2 usually subsides by the next day.
Depending on the severity of the acne scars, a few Edge Fractional CO2 treatment is required in order to achieve a satisfactory result.
In order for the skin to recover from each treatment, treatments are performed every six weeks but after one Infini ACP and one Edge Fractional CO2 treatment, patients will see results.
Step 3 – Stem Cell Serum
Lastly, for skin recovery, The Clifford Clinic uses Stem Cell Serum after the laser treatment.
Stem Cell Serum is applied to the entire face to aid in skin recovery as it encourages the production of collagen which helps to boost skin regeneration, allowing the skin to restore elasticity and making the skin look firm and healthy.
