Vaser Liposuction/Liposelection is an advanced body contouring procedure that selectively removes unwanted body fat. An alternative to the harsh techniques of traditional liposuction, Vaser Liposuction uses state-of-the-art ultrasound technology designed to gently reshape your body.
Vaser Liposuction selectively removes fat while leaving the surrounding tissues such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue relatively intact – which means a lower down-time recovery and no hospitalization.
This minimally invasive process is designed to be gentle on the body and highly effective, giving patients the smooth contours they want with less tissue injury than traditional liposuction procedures.
How is Vaser liposelection different from traditional liposuction?
In traditional liposuction, there are 2 main steps involved: infusing fluid into the treated area, followed by suctioning out the unwanted fatty tissue.
Vaser liposuction has an additional step in between: The Vaser step uses medical ultrasound energy to selectively emulsify or melt fatty tissue.
This effective technology makes removal of the unwanted fatty tissue easier. Less trauma to surrounding tissues means that you are on your feet faster.
In addition, Vaser helps to tighten the treated skin so that you experience better overall contouring of the area. Individual variation can occur.
How does Vaser Liposuction work?
The procedure makes use of a small-diameter, solid, multi-ringed probes to deliver a minimal level of ultrasonic vibrating energy to specifically target and emulsify—or “liquefy”—the fatty component of the tissue matrix.
Step 1: The fatty layer is injected with tumescent fluld.
Step 2: The high frequency vibration of Vaser ultrasonic probes causes the fat cells to break apart and emulsify into the infusion fluid.
Step 3: Loose fat is easily removed via specially designed suction tubes.
Step 4: During the healing process, skin will retract to give smooth, natural-looking results.
What can I expect from Vaser Liposuction procedure?
During the procedure, ultrasound energy is used to treat unwanted fat, loosening the cells from other tissues so they can be gently removed through a small tube. Depending on the number of areas being treated, the procedure can take as little as one hour or up to several hours.
After a Vaser Liposuction procedure, patients wear special compression garments to help skin contract smoothly to the body’s new contours. A short period of rest (typically 12 hours) is recommended, followed by two to three weeks of general recovery when strenuous activities should be avoided.
Results are immediately noticeable after the Vaser Liposuction procedure and will continue to improve as the body heals. Final results are typically seen in about three to four months.
Which parts of the body can be treated with Vaser Liposuction?
Doctors have experienced great success in treating all of the following areas:
Jowls, chin and neck
Abs, hips, or love handles
Male and female breasts
Back, buttocks or thighs
Knees, calves or ankles
What are treatment details?
Vaser Liposuction is a one-off treatment that can range from an hour to several hours, depending on the complexity of the patient.
Downtime will be about 12 hours, and strenuous exercise should be avoided for 2 – 3 weeks.
What is the recovery time for Vaser Liposuction?
Right after procedure
There will be some immediate post-op sweliing which will increase over a few days before it starts to settle down. Most patients will know by pinching the areas that fat deposits have reduced. Swelling will feel very different from fat.
After one week
Swelling would have decreased slightly and stitches will be removed, if any.
After three weeks
Patient will be able to go back to strenuous sports.
After one month
The feeling of normal skin may only come back after one month, after the healing tissues reorganize itself. The overlying skin contracts such that often stretch marks and loose skin appears less obvious.
After three months
Depending on the patient, it may take up to 3 months for all the swelling to subside and be bikini ready again.
Vaser Liposuction is able to perform Fat Transfer Procedure
The patient is able to have fat removed from one area of the body with a Vaser Liposuction procedure and transfer it to accentuate or contour another area of the body in what is called a Fat Transfer Procedure.
Fat cells treated and removed during Vaser Liposuction procedures are typically of high quality, and are viable to re-introduce into the body in a Fat Transfer Procedure, resulting in a long lasting natural looking effect.
