Brow lift, also known as a forehead lift or browplasty, is a surgery done to correct a droopy eyebrow that may affect vision, as well as to reduce the wrinkles across the forehead, as well as wrinkles that occur on the bridge of the nose between the eyes. Brow lift surgery will lift the skin of the forehead, smoothing the brow and raising the eyebrow to have the face look more radiant and youthful.

Who is suitable for this procedure?
As age catches up with us, unsightly wrinkles may appear on our forehead, as well as frown lines between the brows that can make us look angry all the time. Skin relaxation on the upper part of the face may also cause the eyebrows to drop making one look tired all the time. For people who are affected by these problems, this procedure will be suitable for you. In general, for people in their forties, this procedure will be suitable for you. However there are also younger patients who have been through very stressful times or soaking up too much sun and partying too much in their younger days who are also suitable.
What is the procedure like?
There are basically two methods to lift the forehead and eyebrow area – Classic lift and endoscopic lift.
The classic lift is the traditional technique, where the incision will start above the ear level and go up around your hair line. Depending on your hair line, your plastic surgeon will work to avoid a visible scar. Through this incision, the skin is lifted and some of the tissue underneath is removed with the muscles adjusted as necessary. If there is any excess skin, it will be trimmed away before the wound is stitched up.
For the endoscopic lift, the plastic surgeon will make several small incisions in your scalp. Using an endoscope, the surgeon will insert it into one of the incisions to have a good view under the skin, while at the same time inserting another instrument via another incision to work on the necessary changes to the muscle, skin and tissue. The endoscopic lift is less invasive and will result in minimal scarring and a shorter recovery time.
How is the recovery process?
The recovery process for this plastic surgery procedure may depend on which technique you had, whether it’s the classic lift or endoscopic lift. In general, there will likely be more pain experienced for the classic lift as well as a longer recovery time due to the more invasive nature of the classic lift.
There will be bruising and swelling on the face that can also affect parts of the face that has not been operated on, including the cheeks and eyes. It is thus important to elevate the head at all times for at least a week to ease the swelling, as well as applying ice onto the affected parts. Also to prevent the wound from being affected and prolong recovery time, it is important to avoid strenuous activities as well as lifting heavy objects.
The stitches will usually be removed in about 1 – 2 weeks later, and one will be able to return to work about ten days after surgery.
